Half of a Good Game

Every now and then there comes a game that looks and sounds so good that the thought of it being less than spectacular seems like a joke: but then it turns out to be a waste of time. That's exactly what "The Outfit" is. "Mercenaries meets Call of Duty" seems like a mixture of games that can't possibly end up bad. Add in the comic mentality of the story and dialogue and you can't miss. Sadly, Relic did miss. The graphics were good, blowing up stuff was nice, shooting nazis is always fun, but the vehicle controls stopped the whole show. Trying to drive a jeep in this game is actually harder than it is in real life. Trying to get a bead on the enemy while dodging bullets is way harder than it should be, especially given the game's cartoonish feel. This gets even more frustrating because a lot of the game is meant to be played from behind the wheel. Why didn't the developers make the game funner and their work easier by just taking the vehicle controls from "Halo" or "Mercenaries" and appling them to this game. It almost seems as if they sabotaged their own game. I really wanted to like this game. I played it for several days trying to get use to the driving, but I couldn't. It could've been so much fun if they had made blasting people on wheels as fun as shooting them on foot. All I can say is thank God for game rentals or I might have wasted $60.
