NBA ShootOut 2002

ShootOut makes a final bow on the PlayStation. Find out if the veteran has aged well or if it should have called it quits.

Wondering how ShootOut fares in its final PlayStation season? Unfortunately, the scouting report is grim?think Clippers.

NBA ShootOut 2001 had graphics that were, to put it kindly, outdated, and they certainly have not aged gracefully. Aside from the opening movie and menu interfaces, ShootOut 2002 looks nearly identical. Actually, the graphics look worse since the frame rate drops lower this time thanks to the new ?faster gameplay.? That speed tweak also hampers the overall controls, making it nearly impossible to defend against fast drives to the hoop.

The A.I. of your teammates has been tweaked, making them smarter, more aggressive, and 10 times more likely to commit fouls on their own. The commentary was one of the bright spots last year and it remains so again?although there are far fewer new phrases. It would be wise to send ShootOut 2002 to the showers unless you simply must have updated player rosters and the questionable touch-shooting feature.
