Review: NBA Live 06
With the PSP's awesome wireless capabilities, NBA Live 06 takes your game to a whole new level of powerful portability.
In NBA Live 06, EA once again strikes sports gaming gold with another solid installment in their powerhouse franchise. As expected, EA crammed all their signature style and high profile pageantry into this portable version with outstanding commentary (by big man Marv Albert), broadcast-like presentation, and rap-tastic soundtrack. While the somewhat pixilated graphics aren't quite up to par with the consloe versions, the visuals still look great. Also featured are a sweet set of entertaining extra game modes like the All-Star Game, 3-Point Shootout, Slam Dunk Contest, Rookie Challenge, and Superstar Challenge (a PSP exclusive mini-game). The control feels tight and fairly responsive on the analogue pad, making passing and scoring easy feats. Your teammate's friendly A.I. is also mostly reliable, save for the occasional hiccups that leave your buddies staring stupidly at rebounds and loose balls. The coolest feature, however, is the multiplayer mode that allows you to challenge a nearby friend or an anonymous opponent via a wireless internet connection (very cool). Though it may not redefine the genre, NBA Live 06 is your best B-ball bet.
