Feature: Namco Pre-E3 Screenshot Blow-Out
We've got 145 new screens from all of Namo/Bandai Games' upcoming E3 line-up, including new shots from Tekken: Dark Resurrection!
Today Namco officially announced their preliminary E3 line-up of new titles, and we've got a massive batch of screens for you to feast your eyes on. Follow each link below view the brand-new screenshots for each game.
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Tekken goes portable for the first time since it appeared on the GBA and so far this flagship franchise is shaping up to be THE fighting game for gamers on the go. With a huge stable of familiar faces, including a couple new brawlers, diehards and rookies alike should have no problem finding their perfect fighter. The game will also boast a large number of fighting arenas, as well as PSP-exclusive modes such as the Dojo (where you can practice your moves) and an Ad-Hoc multiplayer option to play against friends.
Visually Tekken: Dark Resurrection is shaping up to also be quite impressive. While not as detailed as its arcade counterpart, character models were large and detailed, while environments also seemed have a nice graphical punch to them. The PSP's smaller screen does make it a bit hard to see some of the animations, you'd be hard pressed to find another fighting game on the PSP with this amount of polish.
Dot Hack GU
Continuing the popular Dot Hack franchise, GU is shaping up to be quite a bit different from previous installments. The game still takes place in The World, the virtual space from the other games, and now follows the adventures of a young hero named Haseo. As a virtual denizen of The World, Haseo has dedicated himself to hunting down and killing players who nefariously defeat other unwitting gamers. He won't go about this on his own, however, and will pick up a number of allies along the way.
Visually the game is getting a bit more life-like, with character and enemy models a tad more realistic than they've been in the past. The overall tone of the game is also a bit darker than you'd probably expect, which seems to be a nice change of pace. While the action seems pretty faithful to the franchise, the new storyline should really appeal to those Dot Hack fans looking for something new.
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja
Everyone's favorite young ninja is gearing up for another battle in Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, and so far the results are pretty darn impressive. As expected, the cast of the popular anime and manga series will be ready to step in to the ring, so be ready to play as all your favorite characters. The game also boasts a number of different game modes, giving you quite a bit of variety for some single and multi-player bouts.
The game adheres to a 2D perspective, although each fighting arena is usually broken down in to several different areas. For example, one arena has a battle area in the foreground of the screen, one in the middle, and one in the background. You can jump to each level at your leisure, which ends becoming a key strategic element in fighting. Dotted throughout the arenas are also helpful characters who drop food and other power-up items. So, the more you move, the more you potentially can strengthen your character.
So far Naruto: Ultimate Ninja is looking to be quite a bit of fun, especially for series fans. The action is fast paced and the visuals are a nice blend of cel-shading and pencil-drawn sketches. Even if you don't know anything about Naruto, if you like fighting games this title should probably pop up on your radar.
