Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is officially coming to American PS3s, ending speculation that it would be Japan-only.
Released just over a month ago for purchase and download on Japanese PlayStation 3s, Namco-Bandai Games America Inc. has confirmed with us that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is now coming to the PlayStation Network store in North America for download.
Namco's throwing loyal PlayStation 3 owners a Tekken 6 tide-me-over in the form of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Last seen on the PSP, this new PS3 version includes remastered graphics (in 1080p, no less), a new playable character (Tekken 5 baddie Jinpachi), and a new "fight money" system that rewards you for nailing massive mid-air juggle combos and perfect victories. You can spend that cash on downloadable extras like HD Tekken 6 teaser videos and PS3 wallpapers, all viewable in the Gallery.
Also, the opponent selection in the Ghost Battle has been redone, and works as follows:
- The first opponent (Stage 1) is chosen based upon the difficulty settings under Options.
- All further opponents are chosen based upon the fallen opponents rank, and the player is then given a choice between three ghosts for the proceeding match.
No word yet on a specific price (the Japanese version costs 2,000 yen, or about $16.50 US) or release date, but Namco Bandai has confirmed it will be available on the PlayStation online store sometime later this month.
