Bond is back and blonder than evar! Daniel Craig is a hot piece of ass and I could watch that backside all day. It's too bad the entire game wasn't in third person. But anyways. The first-person shooting feels even better than Goldeneye and just as good as Call of Duty 4. And the first- to third-person cover system is fantastic. it works just like Rainbow Six Vegas.

Good Bond

Pros Cons
Awesome audio Doesn't live up to expectations
Epic boss fights
Engaging story
Intense action

The James Bond franchise hasn't had a hood game since GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Quantum looks promising...

  • Nov. 11, 2008 Review: Quantum of Solace - PS3

First things first: 007: Quantum of Solace is not the second coming of Goldeneye, nor does it really stand out amidst the other big shooters this holiday. Quantum of Solace plays like Rainbow Six Vegas with a James Bond disguise using the Call of Duty 4 engine to render some very impressive visuals. Unfortunately, Quantum of Solace can't stand up to the properties it was based on, hampered by bland and repetitive gameplay. Ultimately, it feels as though a smaller Treyarch B-team was put on Bond duty, the same development studio behind the new Call of Duty: World at War..

THE BOTTOM LINE: Quantum of Solace is a solid shooter tasked with walking in the shadows of some heavy holiday hitters. Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Fallout 3, and Resistance 2 should be top picks on your holiday gift list before looking at Quantum of Solace. With a short single-player campaign and barebones Call of Duty 4-style multiplayer, this game is definite rental material. Try it before you buy it.
