ProTip Guide, Secret Weapons over Normandy

It's Star Wars Over Normandy! We tell you how to play as a Rebel X-Wing or Imperial TIE Fighter.

Gamers have been clamoring for an updated version of LucasArts' X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter for a long time. While the company has yet to announce such a beast, it did sneak both vehicles into Secret Weapons Over Normandy giving us to chance to recreate the conflict of "a galaxy far, far away" over the backdrop of World War II.

The Star Wars Trick
In order to unlock these fine fighting flying machines, you must complete the standard 15 mission campaign as well as all 21 challenge missions. Once you have mastered this task, both the Rebel X-Wing and the Imperial TIE Fighter will become selectable in the game's instant action mode. This works for all versions of the game which means PC, PS2 and Xbox owners can all join in the fun.

PROTIP: Carry rockets in the Betty Boom challenge-they're excellent for taking out the freighter and the heavy, slow bombers.
PROTIP: Tap CIRCLE to slow the action and maximize the time you have to fire on a target; hold CIRCLE to make time pass quickly when ?ying across long, empty gaps.
PROTIP: In Mission 5, break off at the start and focus on taking out destroyers with your cannon.
PROTIP: For successful bombing runs, approach the target at roughly 1000 feet. As you draw near, switch to the Bombing camera (tap TRIANGLE), dive in steeply, drop the bomb, and climb quickly away. Keep an eye on your altitude the whole time-it's easy to accidentally crash.
PROTIP: In Mission 3, carry medium bombs and target the fighter and bomber hangars first, then the landing craft. Land to restock as needed, but order your wingmen to attack specific targets while you do so.
