12. Move, Mr. President!
Shell 2 Core: You can find the Nikita rocket launcher in at the south end of the ?rst long corridor in the ?ooded ?oor of Shell 2 Core, B1 Filtration Chamber No. 1. Once you have the Nikita, return to Shell 2 Core, 1F Air Puri?cation Room.
The president has a nasty habit of walking into the Nikita missile. However, you can move him to a safe location before you navigate the missile to its target. Go to the room where the president is imprisoned and press against the west wall. Start knocking on the wall and the president will approach your location and tell you to knock it off.
When he's right against the wall, run south, climb on top of the crate and fire a missile into the opening. Navigate the missile through the shaft and hit the power generator in the room.
13. Fight Vamp
Shell 2 Core: At the start of the ?ght, after Vamp's lengthy self-introduction, return his greeting with a stinger missile. If you blow past the dialogue, remember one thing: if you fall into the water, you will fail the mission.
While Vamp is swimming, equip the SOCOM and shoot out the lights located in the room along the west and east walls.
After Vamp jumps in the water, run to the north end of the room, collect the nearby ammunition, and equip the M4 or AK-74u. Face south and wait for Vamp to throw a knife your way-when he does, shoot the projectile out of the air with a machine gun.
Vamp's biggest trick here is to spin like a top and launch several blades your way. However, when he finishes, he's vulnerable, so ?re away when the red glow around Vamp fades. Before Vamp jumps back into the water, he claps his hand twice-that's your cue to change position.
After Vamp jumps back in the water, return to the south part of the room, equip the stinger, and repeat the pattern.
14. Clear a Path for Emma
Strut L Oil Fence: You've got five claymore mines to shoot out on the first walkway and two on the second walkway. Be sure and equip the thermal goggles so you can pick out targets faster and easier.
Take the mines out first while you have the Pentanazemin to keep your accuracy up. Emma can survive limited enemy fire, but if she steps on a mine, it's Mission Failed.
If you run out of ammo, click off the sniper ri?e and look on the platform that you're firing from.
When the nasty surprise hits on the third walkway, zoom in on Vamp's head. When he briefly moves Emma out of the firing line, quickly squeeze off three shots in rapid succession, and then hold your ?re until Vamp's head is in the clear again. Do not try and shoot over Emma's head-you'll hit her arm instead.
15. FMV "Fun"
Arsenal Gear-Ascending Colon: Near the end of the game, after you pass through the guarded corridor, you can watch an extended video segment. When the map located in the upper-right corner switches to footage of the woman, stand still and you can watch an extended sequence.
16. Snake's Dog Tag
Arsenal Gear-Ascending Colon: Here's how to acquire the elusive dog tag number 00: After Snake gives you the High Frequency Blade, sheath the weapon and knock him down with a combo attack.
After he gets up and retaliates, hit him with a second combo attack that should brie?y knock Snake out.
While Snake is unconscious, you can shake out his dog tag.
17. Metal Gear Ray
This battle in-ahem-Arsenal Gear-Rectum is all about hit-and-run tactics. Right at the start, completely replenish your health.
If you run out of rations, extras occasionally re-generate in the middle of the circular "battlefield."
When aiming at one of the Ray units, go for the head. You can lock-on to the knees, but the real damage is scored with headshots.
Ray has a few attacks of its own-the deadliest of which are homing-missiles that come in two forms, vertically and horizontally. The death-from-above types aren't too dif?cult to avoid, considering that you keep moving.
The horizontal ones, though are tricky: Start running when they're launched, and then press u at the last minute and they should slip past you.
18. Solidus
Beating Solidus at Federal Hall is all about using the ledge.
Simply dangle off the edge of the roof and wait for Solidus to approach. When he stands at the ledge over you and asks, "What are you doing?" he's preparing to strike.
The moment Solidus's samurai blades turn blue, immediately tap g to hoist back onto the ledge, and then immediately rotate the right analog stick 360 degrees.
Although it may look as if Solidus will hit you, he won't.
Repeat the pattern until Solidus is defeated.
