Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

These two pics were also taken from roughly the same spot in the Trenton District in Portland, the top from LCS and the bottom from GTA 3. The difference in graphical detail and polygon count is even more obvious in these shots. Look at how much more detailed the grass and trees are in GTA 3 below. Everything from the autos to the buildings to the character models look much crisper in GTA 3. Again, LCS seems to hold its own in draw distance, though things seem to fade a bit earlier in LCS.

The Verdict

While no one really expected this version of LCS to be GTA's shining star, it still holds up well with the rest of the series. Yeah, the graphics may be a bit dull and the engine chugs at times, but for $20, you are guaranteed a hell of a lot of entertaining hours of gameplay. LCS is probably as long as most other GTA games, and even without the multiplayer mode that was present on the PSP, this one is well worth the single Andrew Jackson.
