ESPN X Games Skateboarding

Looking for something to fill the PS2 skating void until Tony Hawk 3 arrives? Keep looking.

When will ESPN learn the difference between a game worth endorsing and one that?s utter garbage? Not soon enough, apparently.

In addition to a weak X Games mode, this shameless Tony Hawk wanna-be offers a few cool levels like the passenger liner and the museum?where else can you grind a dino skeleton??but there is noticeable slowdown on bails and truly horrible, unforgivable draw-in everywhere. Everybody cut Tony 2 some slack on the pop-up because it was on the PlayStation; no such quarter will be given when 128 bits are under the hood. The camera can?t always follow, animations don?t link smoothly, and control is not forgiving?it?s easy to accidentally waste your special meter.

Real skaters like Burnquist and Senn and the edgy soundtrack (Linkin Park, New Found Glory, Sum 41) can?t make up for ESPN X Games Skateboarding?s gameplay flaws. Save your dough for Tony 3.
