Second Look: Gran Turismo 3
The new Gran Turismo gets a new look and a new name! GT3 won't hit the track until 2001, but the wait should be worth it
PS2 fans will have to wait until 2001 to get their hands on the next Gran Turismo. To reflect the fact that GT 2000 won't actually hit stores in 2000 AD, Sony has changed the name of the game to Gran Turismo 3 - but all that waiting won't be in vain. There are a few new surprises in store for GT fans in this latest version. First, the graphics will get a serious kick in the pants, with incredibly smooth car models and a frame rate that stays well over 30 FPS. Polyphony digital has also tweaked the cars' handling for a more realistic driving experience. Not only will GT3 feature all the auto manufacturers from the other two GT games, but it will also have over 50 racing brands. You'll even be able to race the fifteen tracks (many of which will be PS2 updates of popular Gran Turismo courses) in reverse for even more track variety. Stay tuned to GamePro.com for updates.
