Hands-On: How to Rock Guitar Hero II

We break down every track on the Guitar Hero II demo -- expert guitar and bass parts explained in detail!

Hail to the rawk gods. Guitar Hero II kicks ass.

The sequel vastly improves on the original, and is still the best way to live out shattered rockstar dreams without the obvious risk of public humiliation. Plus, you don't come away smelling like cigarettes and shirtless fat-guy sweat. Superb.

We recently got out itchy fret-burning fingers on a playable demo version of GHII, which is essentially the build that was shown at E3 last month. This version has eight tracks, all of which are playable in either single-player or multiplayer co-op mode.

For the experienced grinder, the biggest difference in GHII is in the multiplayer mode; it has really been given a little gas. Now, not only can you play lead, rhythm, and bass parts, but each player can select a different difficulty level. So, if you want to jam out with that special friend who can barely clap his/her hands to a beat, you won't have to suffer along with the remedial licks.

We've virtually exhausted the demo version of the game, and are here to let you in on all the ins and outs of each song on the demo.

Enjoy!
