Ion Storm?s sci-fi first person shooter/RPG hybrid heads down the oft-traveled road of PC-to-PS2 port.
Deus Ex for the PC is already regarded as a sort of modern classic?it?s one of the first games to take the heady concept of a character-intensive, open-ended First-Person Shooter/RPG and make it actually work. Instead of just having you strap on some killer alien weaponry and throwing you into a soldier-filled fray, guns blazing, Deus Ex drops you into the middle of a Blade Runner-esque sci-fi conspiracy and lets you handle the situation your way. Want to try to sneak past some guards through the ventilation system? Go ahead. Wanna try to talk your way through ?em with a little help from your nanotech enhancements? Deus Ex lets you do that, too. Of course, the guns-blazin? option is always available for those who don?t feel like thinking outside the box. Now, like all good PC first-person shooters, Deus Ex is making its way to the PS2 with a few features to make it more console-friendly experience. The game promises to take advantage of the PS2?s graphical prowess with better explosions, more complex character models and more realistic animations, and improved textures, while the controls will be modified with features like auto-aiming to make the potentially restrictive PS2 controller more viable. Deux Ex will hit the PS2 this November. Whether you rent it, buy it (using either your credit card or cash), or sneak right past it in the stores will be totally up to you.
