First Look: Maximo
What was Tokyo Drifter?s favorite game of E3? It had to be Maximo for the PlayStation 2. Find out why.
Shrouded in mystery ever since it was first announced over a year ago, Maximo made a stunning debut in playable form at E3. ?Inspired? by the Ghosts ?N Goblins series, the game totally mimicked the earlier title?s classic trappings, like zombies rising from the ground and armor being knocked off as you take damage. The gameplay retained just the right amount of old school flavor, but mixed things up by supplying you with a surprisingly deep array of attacks and abilities, many of which will enable you to customize the character differently each time you play.
The music should also evoke nostalgia, as the haunting synth sounds are being given new life as re-mixes courtesy of gaming tunesmith Tommy Tallarico. Maximo is currently slated for a holiday release although that may change depending on competing releases. Stay tuned for more soon.
