Music in videogames have come a long way in just over the last five years and the soundtrack to Capcom?s hit Onimusha game hammers that point home. Composed by the world renowned Mamoura Samuragoch and performed by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Sounds of Onimusha takes us through 30 selected music tracks comprising of over 70 minutes of music. Anyone who has seen the breathtaking CG opening from Onimusha can tell you that the lush title track "Rising-Sun" perfectly compliments the tense action and drama on-screen.

The selected tracks run the gamut of from grand and sweeping tunes to reserved and reflective. It gives the soundtrack a good balance and makes it perfect for setting background atmosphere. The only gripe is the CD authoring seems to be recorded rather low so the dynamic shifts from subtle chanting to blaring trumpets are made all the more glaring.

Considering the imported CD soundtrack would cost you at least three times as much, Sounds of Onimusha is highly recommended for fans of traditional-style Japanese music befitting a Samurai epic.
