Strategy Guide: Ecco the Dolphin - Four Ways of Mystery
= Vigor power-up
= Sonar power-up
= Air power-up
Vitalits
- Floating above the waterline in the recluse's pool.
- Floating in the water in the ray's pool.
- In the Yellow Crystal tunnel.
- In the Blue Crystal tunnel on your way out of the level.
- To find this one you must return to the level after learning the Power of Sonar and break the ceiling in the main cavern.
Objectives: Learn the Power of Air, learn the Song of the Ray.
As soon as you enter this level, swim to the middle of the cavern and find a cluster of rocks with bubbles coming out of it. Swim into the glyph to acquire the Power of Air. It is a good idea to remember where these rocks are; the bubbles will replenish your air supply while you are in this level.
Song of the Ray
Find the Purple Crystal tunnel and cross it to find the recluse dolphin. He will ask you to bring him a particular fish. Swim back to the main cavern where there are three lone fish swimming around. The fish you need to catch is blue and yellow (the trick is to stay in one place once you've located the right fish. The fish is swimming in circles and will eventually swim by you again). Once that's accomplished, make your way back to the recluse's pool, where he will teach you the Song of the Ray.
You must now go through the Red Crystal tunnel to reach the ray's pool. It is a good idea to eliminate the sharks in the pool before singing to the ray. Swim behind the ray and, by using your sonar, guide the ray through the tunnel and to the main cavern. There's a reason why an Air power-up is available in this pool, you'll be using your sonar constantly, and it's a long way back to the main cavern. Once back in the main cavern, the ray will hang out by the giant eel blocking the passage (don't worry, the ray won't disappear if you decide to take the time to explore the level). You must now guide it under the giant eel to serve as a distraction while you swim into the tunnel. A good way to make sure you'll have enough air to guide the ray and get through the Blue Crystal tunnel (which is behind the Giant Eel) is to use the Air power-up at the entrance of the Purple Crystal tunnel.
After clearing the stage by going through the Blue Crystal tunnel, you'll find yourself in an underwater cave that will lead you back to Perils of the Reef.
