Say the words "Alone in the Dark" to a long-time PC gamer, stand back, and watch 'em rave. The granddaddy of horror games (the original Alone in the Dark hit PCs well before the PlayStation was a twinkle in Sony's eye) returns to the scene with a new storyline, a new playable character, and backed by the sheer graphical might of the Dreamcast.
In Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, you control either the intrepid supernatural detective Edward Carnby (the hero of the original game) or the inexperienced-but-determined archaeologist Aline Cedrac as they search for magical artifacts and avenge the death of Carnby's friend. The focus is on tension and terror here, not guts and gore like Resident Evil, and often the only thing that comes between you and death is a simple flick of the power switch on your flashlight. This game should be hot, so stay tuned for more coverage as Alone in the Dark nears completion.
