needs to update their status Updated: NeverAbout Me
I've been a gamer since the 8 bit Nintendo days and have never looked back. Since then, I've owned almost every popular system in existence. I'm in no ways a fanboy, and look to play any great game, despite what system it is on. As far as next gen (current gen) gaming goes, I own an Xbox 360 and a PS3. I guess I'll get a Wii sometime down the road, when some are actually available in my area. Favorite genres: RPGs, Football, Boxing, Action, Fighting.

Call of Duty WaW beta preview
Everyone probably realizes that this is probably the biggest gaming year ever. The next few months alone is going to be full of games that I feel that I just have to have in my collection. It makes it even harder when you own more than one console. There are just too many games to dive into between now and Xmas. What a wonderful, expensive time.
One of the big games coming up is Call of Duty: World at War. After hearing that Treyarch was behind this game, I wasn't really all that excited about it. However, knowing that they were using the same engine from COD4, I knew that there was no way they could really ruin the series. So I thought that I would give it a shot.
Thankfully, I happened to check my email and saw that I had an invite to the multiplayer beta! I haven't spent a whole lot of time with it, but I've definitely played enough to get a feel for what the final game will be like. For anyone not fortunate enough to have the same opportunity, here are a few thoughts on what you may be in for if you decide to take a chance with this game.
It plays pretty much exactly the same as COD4. Controls and everything. There are a few differences, but Treyarch pretty much kept the base game intact. Call of Duty 4 vets will have no problems picking up this game and getting into a groove after feeling out the new weapons.
Dogs are great distractions. When you put out that great kill streak, and call out the dogs, they can be very useful. Yes, they can kill enemies, but they can be great distractions that leave enemies wide open for easy kills as they try to fend them off.
Kill dogs with a knife. No point in wasting bullets. Just wait for them to get close and knife them. Always keep your back covered though, to make sure that none come up from behind you.
Not a whole lot of a reason to stop playing COD4. Unless you like the idea of old school weapons, tanks, and the WWII theme, this game doesn't seem to offer a whole lot more than the old faithful Call of Duty 4. The gameplay is essentially the same, with a few tweaks. And if you're one of the types of people that have already played so much COD4 that you can't take anymore, then WaW probably won't change your mind.
If you're not one of those people, then the decision you'll have make is: do I want to pay 60 bucks on a game that I've basically been playing to death for a year?
Pros: Familiar gameplay. New weapons and levels.
Cons: Familiar gameplay? Essentially the same game as before.

It varies for me. Game length means a lot to me if it is a game that really requires it. Obviously, shooters don't need to be very long because the usually come with online play. So a short campaign can be forgiveable IF the online portion is worthwhile.
