Wii Fit Weighs In! (Page 2 of 3)

Just For Fun

But that's beside the point because Wii Fit is also about having fun. It basically turns your entire body into a video game controller and casual gamers who've bought into the Wii's user friendly vibe will no doubt find things to like about it. "Hardcore" gamers will no doubt bash it as being a gimmick and yet another example that Nintendo is selling out, but that's just foolish: a great gaming experience is a great gaming experience, no matter what, and much like playing the drums in Rock Band, it's something all gamers should try at least once.

There are a few things I didn't like about the Wii Fit/Balance Board combo, however. First, the Board requires its own set of batteries, which means you'll have to have six batteries on hand-two for your Remote, four for the Board. Second is the price: at about ninety-dollars, the entire package isn't cheap. There's also the question of future use-unless other developers take full advantage of the Balance Board, it could become another addition to the failed peripheral graveyard. Fortunately, Namco and EA have pledged support for the board by adding compatibility to We Ski and Skate It, respectively, and I'll eat a box of bran muffins if Activision doesn't use the Balance Board for the Wii version of the next Tony Hawk game, whenever that comes out."

Fitness Fanatic

I have to admit that I enjoyed my time with Wii Fit and the Balance Board. It isn't particularly deep, it offers up rather simplistic visuals that are on the level of Wii Sports, and it certainly didn't cut into the time I spent playing "real" games like GTA IV. However, it did provide a fun diversion that I found myself returning to time and time again, and it's further proof that Nintendo is committed to delivering unique and interesting gameplay experiences that challenge our notions of what makes a video game a video game.

If you are a Wii fanatic or are just looking for to play a game that entertains as much as it innovates, then Wii Fit is right up your alley. And I'm going to encourage "hardcore" gamers to at least try it out before they bash the product as being a gimmick-believe it or not, you just might find yourselves having fun.

You're a complete imbicil if you think people need more daily exercise than Wiifit offers.[p]. .[p] .[p] Wiifit is indeed enough to keep any adult fit and healthy, completely replacing any other exercise routine.[p].[p] We aren't talking olympians, or even athletes, we're talking fit and healthy. Wiifit is easily enough, more than enough in fact.
