The best golf game for the Nintendo Wii yet? We think so.
From the team that brought you Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf, enter We Love Golf. The newest golf game for the Nintendo Wii that features everything you'd come to expect from an action-oriented golf game with plenty of familiar Capcom-themed unlockables.
We Love Golf's user interface may look crowded at first, but this is only at the beginning of game during the tutorial phase. We Love Golf has one of the friendliest tutorials we've seen for a Wii game, which features both onscreen indicators and helpful voice commands from the Wii Remote speaker. Of course, the tutorial U.I. can be turned off and on at any time.
Just like real golf, use the Wii Remote to swing your selected club back and follow through to connect with the golf ball. We Love Golf takes into effect the force of your swing and the rotation of the Wii Remote to draw or fade shots.
The controls are really simple for casual gamers to hope right in and play, but offer enough depth for players to expand their golfing skills into a virtual Tiger Woods. Developer Camelot is able to this by combining both player skill with the Wii Remote and in-game character attributes into every swing, drive, and putt.
You can't see it here, but when you're on the green a putting grid overlays the landscape that indicates slope and steepness.
We Love Golf has 12 characters with multiple unlockable costumes to choose from, 8 full-size courses, 2 three-par courses and a mini-golf coarse, all of which can be mirrored.
From what we saw of We Love Golf, it's easy to brush off as a cutesy golf game for kids. But don't be fooled, We Love Golf looks to be one of the best golf games on the Nintendo Wii coming in July 2008.
Other notable features:
- Developer Camelot has golf-game chops. Camelot is the same team that brought Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf to life.
- We Love Golf was originally released in Japan on December 13th, 2007, and did not feature online play.
- The U.S. version will have online play with multiple modes that range from tournaments to the quirky ring shot mode where players must arc the golf ball through a series of floating rings. There is also a robust win-record stat tracker with collectable badges for performing awesome achievements.
- Unlockable costumes, including Capcom themed outfits: Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Jill Valentine (Resident Evil), Arthur (Ghouls 'n Ghosts), Zak (Zak & Wiki), and more.
- Use your own Mii characters to play.
