Trauma Center: New Blood

The 2nd Trauma Center is all new for the Wii, and GamePro puts it under the knife.

Those who were disappointed that Trauma Center: Second Opinion was only a port of the original DS game, you can now rejoice! Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii is coming soon, and it has a lot going for it.

Like Second Opinion, you use the Nunchuck and Wii Remote together to operate on your patients (it's almost impossible to play the game with just the remote) as one of two new doctors: Dr. Markus Vaughn and Dr. Valerie Blaylock. The two doctors start off in the wilderness of Alaska, treating common illnesses and accident victims, but with shadowy back stories and back-office hospital intrigue following both characters, the story is sure to get a whole lot more complicated.

Come on, it's just a scratch.

Come on, it's just a scratch.

The initial gameplay looks to be the same with three difficulty levels, the same instruments and same procedures featured in the first few surgeries, but later operations are sure to change and toughen up.

What everyone has been waiting for is the new co-op multiplayer option. As if Trauma Center wasn't nerve-wracking enough as you competed against the unforgiving clock, you can work-and compete-with a friend to finish operations and post the highest scores. This feature significantly ramps up the excitement and replayability of the game; who doesn't love a little friendly competition when lives are on the line? Online leaderboards will also be available to see how your skills in the virtual O.R. stack up against other virtual PhDs across the country.

Trauma Center is one of the most innovative new franchises of the last few years, and this newest installment is shaping up to be a great new addition to the third-party Wii game lineup that is lacking in quality.
