Items Guide!
Collect the following items to receive their corresponding effects.

? Coin: The question mark Coin ("? Coin") has mysterious effects.
? Block: The question mark Block ("? Block") spits out Star Bits or Coins when struck.
1-Up Mushroom: These shrooms give you an extra life.
Block: The metallic blocks in the game, like other games in the Mario series, cannot be smashed.
Blue Star Chips: Collect 5 of these star fragments to put together a Pull Star.
Brick Block: The Brick Blocks in the game will can be smashed by jumping up and hitting its bottom or by spinning on it. Most of the time they do nothing.
Bubbles: The Bubbles in the game can be used to move around in certain situations. When in one, press A to blow air into it and then use the Wii Remote to direct the Bubble.
Coin: The regular coins in the game restore one bar of your health. Getting 50 of them will earn you an extra life.
Flipswitch Panel: Walk over these to change their color. Usually, if there are several, you have to change the color of all of them once in order to cause something to happen.
Grand Star: The Grand Stars are earned after completing a Galaxy in its entirety.
Green Shell: These familiar shells can be used to shatter objects as well as defeat enemies. Taking one of these underwater will allow you to swim faster.
Ground Pound Switch: Activate these buttons by using the Ground Pound move (press Z while in the air).
Launch Star: Spin while in the Launch Star to propel yourself to the next planetoid or area.
Lever Switch: Activate the Lever Switches in the game by spinning near them.
Life Mushroom: These mushrooms allow your max health to be temporarily increased to 6 bars.
Pipe: Pipes can be entered to warp you to another area in the game.
Power Star: The Power Stars are earned after completing levels in Super Mario Galaxy.
Pull Star: Aim the Wii Remote at the Pull Star and then press A when the hand icon appears to use a Pull Star. They work essentially as a grappling hook.
Red Shell: These essentially serve the same purpose as the Green Shells.
Rolling Ball: You can ride Rolling Balls by getting on top of them. Press A to jump and use the Wii Remote to steer.
Star Bits: These can be collected and used as projectiles to damage enemies and smashing objects by firing them at targets by pressing Z on the Wii Remote. You can also feed these to hungry Lumas for various results including uncovering some secrets in the game. Like the Coins, getting 50 Star Bits will earn you an extra life.
Yellow Star Chips: Collect 5 of these star fragments to put together a Launch Star.
