Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Chris and Dave duke it out in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. Head inside to watch.

Nintendo had a nifty little media summit today in San Francisco. We hopped on over to find out the bad news first: Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed until February of next year. To be honest, none of us were incredibly surprised. From Nintendo's perspective, facing off Smash Bros. against Super Mario Galaxy during the holiday season isn't exactly a smart business move. And when you consider that there's really no huge first-party title coming for the Wii until Mario Kart, February seems a good fit for Brawl.

Fortunately Brawl was playable today, so Dave and I sat down for a little head-to-head action. Nintendo wouldn't let us film right up at the screen (and it's pretty bright), but you can check it out for yourself in the video below. If you can make it out, I'm the guy who keeps getting the crap beaten out of me. My lack of Smash Bros. skill is shockingly apparent.

Personally, I feel a little uncomfortable using the Wii Remote horizontally to play. They had the game set up at another station with the Classic controller and it felt much more comfortable. Perhaps it was the new rubber jacket skins Nintendo put on all the Wii controllers, but considering how many were set up in the room today, it seems good protection against any Remote-throwing mishaps.
