Sonic Heroes could wind up being Sega's most well-advised merger.
If you were like some folks, the spiky one?s 3D exploits in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 just didn?t do it for you the way the ol? blue bastard used to in his 16-bit heyday. Well, Sonic Team may have at come up with a solution for next-generation blast processing malaise in the form of Sonic Heroes, the latest in the Sonic series, and one of the most pleasant surprises at this year?s E3 fun festival. While Sonic Heroes? setup looks pretty standard?long stretches of runway (literally) littered with lots of loops, obstacles and springboards?it?s the way you approach the stages that differs. In Sonic Heroes, you control three characters at once (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, for example?though other combinations exist), and switch between them on the fly as the situation demands. Tails is good at getting you up high, Knuckles is an expert at breaking stuff, Sonic gets you the speed you need for long jumps, etc. In other words, no more just running forward blindly ?til your rings fly out your head. It?s potentially the big ol? kick in the pants the blue hedgehog foundation needed. Look for Sonic Heroes in 2004 on PS2, Xbox, and GameCube
