Hands-On: Beach Spikers
The first of the ?hot? beach volleyball games coming this year is set to add some spike to the GameCube courtesy of Sega. We serve up some sizzling screens and more bad puns inside.
Sega continues to branch out their stable of off-kilter sports titles with Beach Spikers. The bikini-laden volleyball game was released in arcades last year, and the preview build of the GameCube maintains the same simple style of game play. While the control scheme is straightforward, it?s quite difficult to get your players to do what you want them to do unless you use custom players whose attributes have been boosted by entering the World Tour mode.
As you?d expect from a sport played with minimal clothing, there?s lots of eye candy, which the GameCube handles well. Court locales are colorfully varied and the players look very sharp. Arcade, World Tour, and a wide variety of multi-player modes that support up to four players will be included. Beach Spikers could shape up to be yet another title to add to the multi-player fest that is the GameCube experience.
