ITEMS and UPGRADES

Zunari: Magic Shield
Collect Flower One from Zunari on Windfall Island after you complete God's Tower. Bring it to the Goron Trader on Mother and Child Island (2,F) and he will give you Flower Two. Bring Flower Two to the Goron Trader on Great Fish Isle (2,D) and he will give you Flower Three. Bring Flower Three to Zunari and you will receive the Magic Shield. This allows you to cut damage taken in half, but also takes Magic Energy.

Windfall Island: Enemy HP Scanner
After you have finished the hide 'n' seek game on Windfall Island, you will be able to give Mrs. Marie (the teacher) Joy Pendants. Give her 41 pendants and you will receive the Enemy HP Scanner. The scanner allows you to see enemies' hit points.

Alternate Costumes And DX Camera
Beat the game and save at the end. Start another game with that saved game file. Aril will be wearing the skull shirt from the ending, Link will wear his pajamas from the beginning all the way through the game, and the DX camera that takes color pictures will be in your inventory.

Easy Blue Potion
The potion shop in the island with the town creates blue potions using the teardrop items from the slime monsters, 15 teardrops equal one blue potion. Instead, use the grappling hook on the monster plants on the island with the big tree to get venus flytraps. Only five flytraps are needed for one blue potion--a much better exchange.

Easy Items
To get the purple backpack item that you normally get from an enemy without having to defeat it, target the enemy and use the grappling hook.

Free Gold Potion
After completing the first dungeon, capture a fairy in a bottle and head back to the island you started the game on--second from the left on the bottom row.
Next, locate the old woman, target her and use the fairy/red potion bottle on her. Talk with her for a free gold potion. It behaves like a blue potion, but may be used twice. The old woman will refill it simply by talking to her.

DX Camera, and New Costumes
Complete the game to unlock some new costumes. Link will have his blue outfit, and his sister will wear a skull shirt. You also will have instant access to the DX Color Camera, and all Hylian text will be translated into English. ( Be sure to load up your completed game save file). In additon, the Treasure locations are moved further away from the islands on your second quest.

Fairy Upgrades
There are 8 possible fairy encounters in Wind Waker that give you very helpful upgrades. 6 are standard fairy wells. The upgrades are given to you in this order:
1. Bigger Wallet: holds 1,000 rupees
2. More Bombs: 60
3. More Arrows: 60
4. Even More Bombs: 99
5. Even More Arrows: 99
6. Even Bigger Wallet: holds 5000 rupees
Here is a list of fairy wells, and there requirements to acess them:
Northern Fairy Island - Requirement: Bombs
Outset Island Fairy Well - Requirement: Deku Leaf, Bombs
Western Fairy Island - Requirement: Skull Hammer
Eastern Fairy Island - Requirement: Bombs
Southern Fairy Island - Requirement: Bombs
Thorned Fairy Island - Requirement: Skull Hammer

In addition, there are 2 special fairy encounters:

Mother & Child Isle Fairy - Requirement: Balled of Gales
Warp to the Fairy Isle with the Ballad of Gales to receive Fire and Ice Arrow upgrades (You must have the Hero Bow for this).

Big Octo Fairy - Requirement: Boomerang or Bombs
Look for a swarm of seagulls in the quadrant, then shoot the Octo's eyes to free the Octo fairy. She'll double your magic meter for you.

Get Hero's Charm
Collect the Cabana Deed from the school teacher, then collect 40 Joy Pendants (you get 20 from the teacher). You can steal Joy Pendants from Bokoblins. When you have all 40 pendants, present them to her, and receive the Hero's Charm. If you equip this mask, you will be able to see enemy hit points.

Get Hurricane Spin
Collect 10 (or steal them) Knight's Crests from the armored Darknut Knights. Then go back to Outset Island and present them to Orca (the sword master). He will teach you the Hurricane Spin.

Easy Blue Potion
The Windfall potion shop makes blue potions using the Blue Chu Jelly, but the shop keeper requires 15 Blue Chu Jellys to unlock it at the shop. A better way to get the potion is to grapple the Deku Baba Plants at the entrance to Forest Haven to swipe seeds. Five can be traded for one blue potion inside Forest Haven's potion shop.

Easy Items
To collect Chu Jelly, Knight's Crests, Joy Pendants and the like more reliably, use your grappling hook on enemies. Bokoblins will yield pendants, Moblins Skull Necklaces, armored "Knuckle" knights crests, ChuChu's jelly, Kargorok birds Golden Feathers, and Boko Baba Plants seeds.

Free Grand Ma Soup Potion
After you clear the first dungeon, capture a fairy in a bottle (or buy a red potion) and head back to Outset Island. Visit your grandma at your house, target her and use the fairy/red potion bottle on her. She will give you some of her special, healing soup in return. When the soup is used up, get a free refill from your grandma anytime.
