First Look: Onimusha Tactics

Why are the denizens of the underworld always so hell-bent on destroying humanity?

Onimusha Tactics pits players against a ravaging horde of demons for control of the land of Iga, but not in the way you?re probably used to. Tactics takes an isometric map-based strategy approach (like Tactics Orge: The Knight of Lodis or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance), which serves the GBA platform so well. Role-playing elements give players control over equipment and character abilities, and the Genma Stones that are hidden throughout the game let players create new weapons and armor. Victory is achieved by conquering a series of battle maps with a hand-picked group of warriors (up to eight can be selected from available units). The interplay of topography and special abilities should lead to elaborate stratagems and ultimately, the eradication of the demonic Genma Empire. Thus far, Tactics looks like it will be a welcome addition to the Onimusha world.
