For those with a burning curiosity, the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop series is a game that lets you simulate the activities of running shops in the Tamagotchi world.
What a Lovely Shop!
Corner Shop 2 features the ability to run a bakery, flower shop, clinic, gas station, sushi restaurant, and more. If the word "Tamagotchi" brings to you those fond (or not so fond) memories of the egg-shaped keychain toys with blobs for pets, then you need to pick up this game and let the definition of Tamagotchi be redefined.
The gameplay varies depending on the shop you run, but the one thing they all have in common is that you have to use your stylus to do everything. For example, when playing the bakery, you are required to pour the correct color dough into the correct mold, as the customer requests, and then make the appropriate decorations on the cake. At the burger shop, you make the customer's burgers by catching the falling ingredients on your bun in the correct order, and so on and so forth.
The Sound of Babbling
Clap your hands and say, "Yeah!"
Perhaps one of the most impressive thing about this game is its wide variety of shops that you can play, ranging from being a florist to being a "rock" star. Of course, nothing in the game really simulates how things run in the real world (running a clinic in which all you do is give cough drops and massages? Changing star-shaped tires on someone's car? 60 gotchi for 5 plates of sushi for 3 people each, but 60 gotchi for buying a bouquet of flowers?), but the sheer variety of tasks to do, shops to take care of and upgrade, and even things you can do with your personal room (as you unlock more furniture, decorations, etcetera) will not leave you bored at all.
The kind used in this game is the type that gets stuck in your head for hours on end. There's really not an impressive range of music, but the babblings of the characters are fun and annoying at the same time. Each "gotchi" character has a different voice, but the babblings are interesting (and at the same time have brought out different reactions from different people). The graphics are simple and two-dimensional, but it fits the game's simple nature, though it doesn't hurt that the characters are awesomely cute in their own unique ways. The controls are also easy to figure out and are quite intuitive, utilizing full use of the stylus in order to play.
One could possibly spend hours on end playing this game, as they obsessively upgrade their shops to unlock more things to buy, until eventually you monopolizing businesses the entire Tamagotchi Mall. That's okay, though, because in the Tamagotchi world, you own all the shops and that's where the fun begins.
Can you feel it?
