Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble

Joe and his wacky VFX powers are back with some touch-tacular new twists!

Games that utilize the Nintendo DS touch-screen in some truly innovative ways has been a disappointment as of late (enough of the maps and item screens!), but Capcom seems poised to buck the trend with their upcoming action title Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble. Using the power that lies buried within the tip of your finger (or stylus), you'll be able to utilize new VFX powers, like being able to slice environments in half to open new pathways, manipulate the environment to solves mind-bending puzzles, and even swap the top screen with the bottom one zoom in on Joe and give him a serious boost in attack power. The top screen will usually give you a zoomed-in view of the main action on the touch-screen, but being able to swap the two with each other is a tremendously clever idea and a lot of fun. You'll still have a handful of classic VFX powers at your disposal, such as being able to slow down time, and when paired up with the new touch-screen abilities, you end up with a winning formula that takes the DS and its technology in some truly innovative directions. While our time with the game was quite short, everything seems to be pointing towards the fact that when the game releases in November, the DS will be quite the Viewtiful little console, indeed.
