LOL

Even if you don't appreciate the art of sketching, or just flat out hate it, you can still have plenty of fun drawing with your friends on LOL.

When most people think of hanging out with friends, having a good time, and sharing a few laughs, drawing is probably one of the last things that comes to mind. Sure some people might enjoy sketching as a hobby when they're alone but not in any kind of party or social situation. But the upcoming Nintendo DS game LOL seeks to put a different spin on this activity and make it very amusing in the process.

Though it's very simplistic, the format of LOL does allow for plenty of fun. The basic formula for LOL is that the game host chooses a topic and sets a time limit followed by everyone frantically doing their best to capture the topic in a picture. At the end of the time limit, players vote on the best picture and the one with the most votes wins. While this may sound a little elementary, the open rules actually make for some pretty crazy moments as something simple like drawing "your ideal L.A. shirt" could turn up three or four very interesting drawings.

LOL is strictly a multiplayer game so don't expect hours of enjoyment with it away from friends. While LOL definitely has a cool concept and is enjoyable to play, its main weakness looks to be that it only allows for multiplayer action (up to four players). This means you're going to have to grab some friends or family members each and every time you want to play it. However, this actually might be a good thing since the thought of someone sitting by them self drawing pictures on their Nintendo DS and voting for it afterwards is a little sad to think about.

Fortunately, this is a single-cart game so only a single copy is needed for group play. The only thing worse than a multiplayer-only DS game would be a multiplayer-only DS game that happens to also be multi-cart. Luckily LOL is single-cart so only one person will have to own the game for everyone in the group to play. The rest can just get it via download and with a retail price of just $20, LOL might not be too bad of a bargain after all.
