Review: Big Bumpin'
Hungry? Like cheap video games? You're in luck! Four dollars will now get you an Xbox or 360 game from Burger King (with the purchase of a meal) that features their terrifyingly creepy mascot who now rides around in a bumper car while crashing into his fellow BK mascots.
The most frightening piece of the three games available from BK is the suggestively titled Big Bumpin'. However, this is not due to the eerie, dirty carnie flavor of the intro or even the crazed humanoid chicken on the box's cover, who appears to have some unidentified brown substance smeared on his beak. No, the most frightening thing about Big Bumpin' is that it's actually fun.
Say wha-?
It's essentially a collection of a few simple but enjoyable party games that revolve around scooting across a small arena in a bumper car, occasionally picking up power ups and trying to smash into your opponents.
The games range from a stripped-down version of hockey where you're trying to bump a "puck" into your enemy's goal to a "smear the queer" style game where one person grabs some electric energy and everyone tries to slam the living crap out of him on his way back to drop it off. In single player, the games are merely slightly amusing, but once you get four people playing with each other in a room, you'll see why party games with simple gameplay are just so damn fun. At this price, it's a pretty good deal. Not to mention, aside from the characters being Burger King mascots, the advertising is kept to a satisfying minimum.
These are three essentially cheap Xbox Live Arcade games that are venues for the fast food chain to cram advertising down your throat as you buy their products. Big Bumpin', however, is surprisingly fun if you have a couple friends to enjoy it with and is definitely worth the bargain price tag. Overall, for what you'd expect from games of this price, we have a pretty decent showing. Just be prepared for haunting visions of an oversized shining plastic head; grinning, always grinning.
