Preview: More on Superman

"It's important when creating a game, whether it's based on a Hollywood license or not, to design the game mechanics and narrative in such a way that you're not yanking the controller away from the gamer," said Hall. "A game is no fun when you're not playing it. There are other ways to get the story across within the game's structure that don't detract from the experience."

...there's more of everything in the game world--more cars, more people and more special effects."

Superman Returns marks the first time a superhero will grace a next generation console. Gray said the Xbox 360 game will give gamers a glimpse of what the improved processing power can bring to the table.

"Everything we do now is better," said Gray. "It'll take a few years to hit stride on the new consoles. We took a big jump with Superman Returns and it's only going to get better. The entertainment value is shooting up."

Gray said there's more of everything in the game world--more cars, more people and more special effects. He said the Xbox 360 game feels real because everything is destructible.

"You can pick up a traffic light out of the ground and use it to fight enemies and the damage that these fights cause impact the environment," said Gray.

Gray added that the experience on all consoles will be the same game, but that the Xbox 360 version offers improved visuals and a more lifelike city. It all sounds super.
