Feature: Ready teh Rumble: Game Pro Strategy Guide for Fight Night Round 3
The GamePros chime in: How do you put together a winning fight?
Vicious Sid
We recently played Fight Night Round 3 in the GamePro offices, and Mr. Marbles and Johnny K melted under the withering barrage of my Joe Fraiser's death-dealing uppercuts. They screamed and screamed, only to collapse in a bloody, sobbing heap inside the first round. Wicked!
If you want to recreate this face-crushing onslaught with your friends, the key is simple -- relentless offense. If your opponent blocks high, swing low with Fraiser's gut-busting signature punch. If he blocks low, pulverize his face with uppercut after uppercut. Never, ever stop, because Fraiser's key asset is his face-shattering strength. Don't worry about jabs unless you need to interrupt your foe's attack; focus on uppercuts and haymakers.
From time to time, your opponent might regain his composure and attempt to throw a few punches of his own. How laughable! In this case, concentrate on parrying the first punch you can. The second you get a successful parry, cream him with a signature punch. Soon enough, he'll stop resisting and go back to eating your monster punches.
Another key tactic is "bully fighting," which is moving in super-close and pounding your opponent's soft, vulnerable underbelly with crushing haymakers. The more you work his midsection, the slower and weaker he'll get --opening him up to a face-shattering signature punch. Don't let up! In general, pummeling with the signature punches is a key strength for Fraiser, as they're tough to predict. Even Ali will collapse under Fraiser's relentless onslaught. P.S. Johnny and Marbles can't fight
Johnny K
First, don't pick Joe Frazier. He's the most unbalanced fighter in the entire game, allowing even the most nooby of noobs easily win fights. There's no honor in fighting like that, so stick with the boxers that know how to fight, such as Ali or Hopkins. Picking Frazier is the Fight Night Round 3 equivalent of using a plasma pistol and battle rifle in Halo 2. Practice parrying punches from your opponent. Parries will leave your opponent wide open to uppercuts and Haymakers. While the timing can be difficult to pull off a parry, it rewards you in spades by giving you ample time to throw in devastating punches.
Don't rely heavily on Haymakers. They're powerful if they connect, but they tire your boxer out like it's going out of style. Use them only after parries or very large openings. Instead, stick to uppercuts and strong body shots to wear down your opponent. Listen to the Weather Sisters' "It's Raining Men" while playing the game. Apparently Vicious Sid does it, and apparently, he's the best player in the universe. Also, he is a dirty cheater who can only win when his opponents are using broken controllers.

Forget all that Bully fighting garbage, and those slow sluggers. That's not why it is called "The Sweet Science." It is about finesse, speed, and timing. Wear down the other fighter with combos and counter-punches. By the Seventh Round, they will have no juice. It is also important to frustrate your opponent. Not the computer opponent, but the guy holding the stick next to you. Jabbing them to death takes them (frustrated Slugger) out of their game plan, and opens them up for some pain.
