Feature: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
Adapting videogames for film is nothing new, in fact it's seems to be an increasing trend. After seeing films like Resident Evil and Doom, many of us were left wondering why Hollywood continues to slaughter some of our favorite games. It looks like Street Fighter's back for round two, and this time focusing on Chun-Li.
Fighting games are about fast, intense action, and competing with your friends. There really is little reason to interject a back-story for the fighters. The hard truth is that when these fighting games try to do so (Soul Calibur Legends, we're looking at you) they fail miserably. It seems Hollywood feels challenged to do a better job at it, and thus have have been unsuccessful.
Of all the game genres to translate to film, arcade fighters seem like they'd be last on the list. With such failures as Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive why would any movie studio think it's a good idea? Whether or not this Street Fighter will be as nauseating as the first remains to be seen, and will be so for another year. In the mean time, Capcom has announced a handful of the actors who will star in the film, but can they live up to the dynasty of the cast from the fist film?

Chun-Li
Kristin Kreuk, a.k.a. Lana Lang in the WB television series Smallville, will play the title role of Chun-Li. Though she has a long history of playing the super ex-girl friend of the Man of Steel, can she pull of being a super street fighter?
Balrog
Michael Clarke Duncan, who played the King Pin in Dare Devil, will play Balrog. Mr. Duncan definitely has the face of a boxer, but whether or not he has the moves remains to be seen.
