Strategy Guide: Panzer Dragoon Orta (Episode 7: Ofnir and Abadd)
Mid-boss: Central Data Unit Ofnir

While this boss spends a great deal of time underground, it will usually surface for long enough to use Heavy Wing?s slow lock-ons on it. But when it starts to go dive, switch to Base and let off one last volley aimed at the tail.

One of the first attacks the boss launches at you is a ramming attack from behind. Like all the others, this can be easily dodged by gliding forward, even as you continue locking on and shooting.

When you see this ring of gates ahead, switch to Heavy Mode and shoot them down as fast as you possibly can. If you don?t, the boss re-gains all of its health, prolonging the fight. You can do enough damage to kill it before the gates come around again, but it?s easier simply to keep it from gaining any health back.

When Ofnir starts swimming to the side, keep an eye on it. It will try to ram you from the sides, and you need to Glide further in advance than usual if you want to avoid taking damage.

When it?s ahead of you, the boss is fond of firing strange-looking projectiles at you. Switch to Glide Wing and you can shoot them all down with ease.

These barriers he leaves in his wake are a little trickier. They reflect the shots aimed at them?

?so you should just glide right through them.
Boss: Abadd

Abadd will take a very long time, since he has plenty of health. Be patient and let your lock-ons do the work.

Abadd's first attack is a series of lasers, which you can easily dodge by moving in a large circular pattern.

Then he will pull to the side and raise his arm. Glide in either direction to dodge his slap, and keep shooting at him.

When you can maneuver around him, pay attention to his head. When you're in front or behind, it will start to glow as he charges a giant beam attack. When you see that, glide out of the way.

Stay to the sides and shoot at the weak spots in his head and heart. He'll raise his arms to slap you again, and when he does, glide away, then quickly come back and start again. You can destroy his arms, and when you do, the side becomes much safer?until he starts firing lasers to the side.

If you hit it enough times, you can destroy his head, and spend a very comfortable period of time firing at his remaining weak spot. Unfortunately, the head grows back. Fortunately, you can blow it up again just as easily.

He will then summon a silver spiked ball that splits into several smaller balls, all of which shoot lasers straight at you. Find the gaps in the formation before they fire and head there. Destroying the small balls in Glide mode allows you a larger safety zone.

The black spiked ball fires three missiles at you, so follow its movement carefully and shoot them down.

The pattern will then repeat, so keep unloading on him.
