Strategy Guide: Panzer Dragoon Orta (Episode 4: The Guardian Statue and Dragonmares)

Stage 1: Guardian Statue

For the front of the Guardian, use Base Wing. Lock on to the boss' weak spot as many times as you can, fire, and repeat this process as often as you can. When it fires lasers at you, quickly dodge to one side. Note that Heavy Wing does more damage to the boss, but doesn't have the mobility to dodge the lasers, so when it isn't shooting lasers at you, feel free to switch into Heavy Wing and smash it.

When its left arm lowers and starts to spout fireballs, let off one last volley, then Glide to the top of the boss, away from the lowered arm. After it finishes shooting, the boss' weak spot will disappear, so don't bother sticking around.

From above, shoot down the missiles, then lock on to the highlighted targets and destroy them. When they're gone, the boss will turn white, signaling the re-appearance of its weak spot. Glide back in front of it, and start the process all over again.

Make sure you don't lose too much health against this boss, because after him you face the pesky Dragonmares.

Episode 4: Dragonmares

The main attack the Dragonmares use is a group of four missiles. They come in a large spread and never miss, so you must shoot all of them down. Glide mode takes care of the missiles with ease, but the difficult task of shooting them down with Heavy or Base makes this fight much faster.

When they start to gather behind you, listen for their shriek. That means they're about to charge you, so Glide straight ahead to avoid their attack.

The spinning disks that they fire can be confusing, but are easy to predict. Head up, then down, then left, then right.

After that, they will fly in patterns in front of you, leaving behind trails of black smoke. Use Base or Glide to head for open space while still hitting them with lock-ons or bullets when possible.

When you see one start to trail dark blood, shoot at that one and only that one until you shoot it down.
