Strategy Guide: Panzer Dragoon Orta (Episode 1: Vermana)

Start this boss in Heavy Wing mode (which you've hopefully brought up to level 2), concentrating your fire on the missile launchers on its deck. Pick them off one by one and don't worry about switching to Glide mode.

The missiles are easy to shoot down, and not all of them will hit you. Shoot down the ones heading straight for you, dodge the ones that aren?t, and keep shooting those missile platforms.

After destroying the missile launchers, stay in Heavy Wing mode and take pot shots until you're under the hangar. Switch to Base mode and destroy the ships as well as the hangar with your lock-ons.

Don't get cocky, the ships will launch missiles at you from below. If you're paying too much attention to Vermana, these will usually hit you by surprise.

When you pull into the front, switch back to Heavy Wing and concentrate on the forward cannons. These are much tougher than the missile launchers on the deck, but again, you should be able to do this part in Heavy Wing by sweeping your fire in a straight line from cannon to cannon. If things get too hairy for you, feel free to switch to Glide and take out all the missiles.

The remote mines are easily taken care of by Glide mode. Be sure to aim a little high, or the mode's auto-aim will lock on to the ship's control tower, leaving you at the mercy of the mines.
