Ninja Gaiden

After a long hiatus, Ryu Hayabusa returns to the action game scene.

At the recent 2003 E3 show, Tecmo finally let out a few more details about the highly anticipated revival of their popular 8-bit franchise. Ninja Gaiden won?t follow any continuity set by the previous three games, but focuses entirely on a new adventure. Story details are still vague, but we do know the evil Vigor empire has massacred the ninja clan of Ryu Hayabusa, and it?s up to him to seek vengeance. He?ll eventually need to reclaim the magic sword ?Ryuken? to finish things off. Along with the standard sword and throwing stars, Ryu can use a host of weapons like bow and arrows and a nunchaku.

So far, the enemies revealed include a various sized mutant creatures and intimidating high tech soldiers. Ryu himself won?t use advanced weaponry like guns, but can use different kinds of ninja magic. Ayane from Dead or Alive plays some role in the game as well, and is the only DoA character currently planned to make a crossover appearance. Ninja Gaiden is tentatively scheduled to make a Thanksgiving appearance on store shelves, so check back for updates.
