Update: Panzer Dragoon Orta
In case you want to be reminded why the Xbox isn't such a bad system after all, here are some more lovely Orta screens to pore over.
Panzer Dragoon Orta was one of the more pleasant games to experience back at this past May's E3 show. While no one can deny that it's a simple 3D shooter that hasn't evolved too much from other games in the series, Smilebit has put so much effort into the graphics (running at 60 fps, no less) and soundtrack that we couldn't hide the tears of joy after playing the game at Sega's booth. (Yeah, so we're a bunch of Sega Saturn softies. Forgive us.)
Sega has not revealed much about the plot besides the bare-bones basics?you play a great hero on an even greater dragon, fighting alongside a band of rebels as part of a great war against an unnamed Empire of the skies. The gameplay works more or less the same as the Saturn Panzer Dragoon and its sequel, with you blasting your way across a single 3D path and grabbing power-ups that transform your dragon into various configurations. If you're good enough, you can even unlock a few side quests that show you the Empire's side of the story. Quite classy. The game comes out this fall.
