Hands-On: Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding
The way you play a snowboarding game may never be the same once you get your hands on Amped.
Microsoft is poised to win acclaim with its entry into the highly competitive snowboarding arena. Already, Amped showed off sharp visuals that included nice weather effects and a smooth frame rate. Best of all, however, every mountain had open trails, which meant you could essentially board anywhere?through icy valleys, along chairlifts, or off a steep cliff?without the risk of going out of bounds. Manipulating the left analog stick easily generated tricks, such as twists and flips. Grabs and rails required the usual button presses, but in this preview version, the buttons were sometimes unresponsive.
Amped promises to offer the ultimate freestyle snowboarding experience. Instead of racing, you?ll need to bust amazing stunts in front of the paparazzi that can make you famous. You?ll be able to choose from 17 pros or you can create your own boarder, then travel to 11 worldly courses?some real, some fantasy?in an attempt to showoff your skills in front of the watchful media.
