Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Just plain fun
Pokemon meets the Zoo!

Viva Pinata is an amazing game. That should be my first sentence because it's true. Now I'm going to bash it a little. Know this: I love this game, and I think you all should buy it, but if you want a positive review, read someone elses. I'm going to focus on the cons, because there are so many pros.
First one: Size
I know that the folks at Rare worked really hard on this game, and that a lot goes into making all the animations for just one pinata, but I don't think it would be too much to ask for a couple more. I'm thinking 25 or so, made available as downloadable content. I've heard rumors, but they all involve the vision camera. There are some of us out there who don't really want to buy the vision camera for 40 bucks when you can only use it with two games. A good ol' fashioned XBL download would suit me just fine.
Two: Unnecessary Pinatas
Why on earth are there like, three monkey pinatas?? I don't particularly like monkeys, so one is more than enough for me. And I especially don't like having three monkey pinatas when there is still no giraffe pinata!!! I WANT A GIRAFFE PINATA!!!!
Three: The new environments
Okay, I think that the 'dessert desert' and the 'pinartic' were clever ideas, I really do, I just don't think they were implemented very well. First of all, I think that having a SEPARATE section of your garden, maybe cordoned off from the rest, would work much better than putting snow in your main garden. Personally, if I'm going for a jungle look, I don't want snow or sand messing it up. Another thing would be to add more environment-exclusive pinatas and ditch the trap system. I only visited each three or so times, and only because there were exclusive species there. If Rare hadn't tried to bulk up the enviro roster with normal pinatas (i.e. preztails and bunnycombs) and put in two or three solid, exclusive pinatas, environments would have been more than a fairly cool gimmick.

Those were the big three I wanted to address, but I also had a couple other ideas that Rare could have/should have implemented to make the game better (aquatic pinatas!!!), so feel free to message me if you want to discuss. Thanks for reading,

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise - Xbox 360

Smash the pinata PLEASE!!!!!

I know this game is critically acclaimed but come on guys this game is BORING!!!! $50 for giga pets on steroids. raise a freakin pinata that is lame. Somebody please make me a dentist appointment so i wont have to play this game. The best way to sum this game up is a not fun version of animal crossing with much less to do and animal crossing isn't that fun to begin with. there is no real gameplay to speak of and the graphics are just ok. Rent this first or just wait for animal crossin Wii if you own a wii that is. If not I'm sure you probably need to go to the dentist anyway and if you dont go eat some rocks so you do. just don't buy this game for the sake of games.

  • Sep. 2, 2008 Review: Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise

Breaking open a copy of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise is sort of like breaking open a real pinata: all sorts of syrupy-sweet treats come pouring out. But the sweetness in Paradise is soured by a lame gardening chores that ruin the taste of the hyper-bright visuals and cute gameplay. Still, when all's said and done, this is one party that's definitely worth attending.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Getting your garden going sort of sucks but Trouble in Paradise is a charming title that's sure to please your gaming sweet-tooth.
