Silent Hill: Homecoming - Xbox 360

If the no-inverted gameplay doesn't make you mad

HomeComing is a solid game, but it doesnt live up to expectations.

This is great game for survivor-horror fans and Silent Hill fans alike, but it does
have flaws. The save points are spread far to much apart, which can be frustrating and if you have to leave means you have to start a lot farther back than you should. Other than that it is a great game with outstansing visuals and creepy locations. Also the revival of Pyramid Head is a great edition.

Silent Hill: Homecoming - Xbox 360

A regretable waste of time and money.

I've already wasted enough time on this game so I'm not going to waste any more by getting into a big review about it.

My complaints come down to these issues:

The engine has a lot of bugs, missing, cutoff and misplaced sounds, glitchy and inconsistent gameplay and a very broken combat system.

The American developers of this version didn't hold true to the original idea and now it seems to just be a conveyor belt of horror cliches. It does not deserve the Silent Hill name.

Save points are few and far between. This is the last time I've played 1-2 hours without a savepoint to have another broken combat encounter throw me back and lose 2 hours of progress.

This game will certainly guarantee frustration and I highly recommend skipping it. If you want to be scared, play Dead Space or replay one of the other Silent Hill games.

Do not buy Silent Hill Homecoming. It is a bad game, and a terrible PC port. It is a waste of $50.

horror fans must play

man, I rented this and it was still f'ing good. you know, still Silent Hill good. yes the others are classics and actual gameplay has never been a strong suit with this series. It's not RE4 or Dead Space which are scary and kick ass to play. But it still is creepy as hell, the sound is excellent and the experience is a good one. rent, buy whatever, but you must play it through.

In the mood to jump out of your skin with fright? If you enjoy strolling the gritty alleys of the dark side of gaming, Silent Hill has long been a destination of choice despite an uneven entry or two. Sadly, though Homecoming boasts some genuinely intense moments of dread, its equally distressing gameplay flaws will take a big bite out of your enjoyment.

THE BOTTOM LINE: What could have been a fantastic surivival horror game, Homecoming is hampered by lackluster gameplay and a linear story.
