Skate - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Just plain fun
Awesome audio
Amazing visuals
buy this game

You have to be crazy not to buy this game. It is the best 360 game i played! The ragdoll physics engine make the bails more enjoyable to watch than Tony Hawk. The flick-it controls is a great way to make skaters (like myself) to fell more like they are skating. I wish it had more than 1 place though. The character custimization is great, and it is funny. The graphics are amazing like the gameplay.

EA skate. Review

I waited for skate. to come out after I read about it in Skateboarder magazine about 5 months before it was released. So I went on EA.com to check out the next day and when I read about the control scheme I was very excited to find out that Black Box decided to break away from the old button mashing that is the Tony Hawk Franchise and go for a more realistic feel. So after watching all the videos on YouTube I decided to start saving for this game. And then I read that a demo was going to be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace on August 15. So by the time 8/15 rolled around I signed on XBL and I found nothing. Then on the website and a few other places. That the demo was delayed because the PS3 version wasn't working and the 360 users need to wait to. That was one of my only complaints about this game. But then on Sept 14 the game was finally released and I beat it in about 8 1/2 hours which was the best time I spent on a game since Halo 2. But there a few technical problems but those were overshadowed by the feel of accomplishment you get after finishing a hard challenge. Then when I played a few online games I feel in love with playing games of SKATE online. Plus the video editor is very well done. I didn't think anything could top it in a sport/sim game. Then when Tony Hawk's Proving Ground came out I rented it. I and must say that game was decent. And they only way THPG was better than skate. is the video editor which superior in many ways buit skate. is still in my opinion much better in almost every way. Which is why I give a 4.75 out of 5

My First Review-Skate

Alright this is my first review on the game Skate. This was a highly anticipated game for me being the Tony Hawk series seemed to becoming more and more bland as time went on and didn't really focus on the aspect of true skating anymore. I seen the demo had come up on xbox live downloaded it and could not put it down. Even though it had only one area to skate in at the time the physics were already great and the realization of a true world was there. A couple weeks later I purchased the game and was shocked about the massive world you could skate in. Not much was changed from the world so it was more so like skating an actual city. The controls were very fluent and responsive. The people were amazingly detailed and the way to move up in the ranks of the game was nicely crafted. I give this game a 4.5 shy away from a 5 being the fact that I wish you could at least get off your board. Some challenges required to jump a set of stairs and you could not get off your board to do so you had to take a longer way around. Other then that the game was very impressive and I surely hope for a sequel.

New skate game on the block

Skate is the most impressive skateboarding game i've seen since THUG.Let me start out with the controls. They were so much fun that i can play the game for hours just pulling off ollies. But it can be a little tricky doing grabs but you'll get it down soon enough. The story is really cool it starts out by you getting hit by a bus!The game is so much more different then any skateboarding game i have ever played. Its so much more realistic then the pulling 30 flips. It feels like you actually skating its amazing. If you like skateboarding games put down Tony Hawks and check out Skate you'll love it.

In terms of gameplay, skate isn't exactly revolutionary. In fact, the premise is pretty generic as you play a no-name skater who starts at the bottom and works his way to the top. You travel around a map to hot spots and complete a variety of objectives--do a particular flip trick here, get a set number of points there--to earn cash and fame.

The camera is low and fish-eyed, trailing only a few feet behind a lean skateboarder tearing up a vicious line in San Vanelona. "Express Yourself" by N.W.A. plays in the background, and that's exactly what Skate allows you to do.
