Clive Barker's Jericho - Xbox 360

Action Packed Shooting Splatterfest With A Great Story

This game has received many mixed reviews. I have played the game and this is an accurate review. The game can be summed up as intense shooting action with decent squad controls and extreme gore killing freakish enemies. This game wasn't meant to be an extreme tactical shooter, it was meant to be a horror themed first person shooter. Those looking for Call of Duty 4 type of gameplay should avoid this title. This game I would highly recommend to any fan of high action shooters with nonstop gore or horror movie fans that like those kinds of games. I would delve further into the story but doing so would spoil it. All I will say is that as a member of an elite squad of mercenaries with supernatural powers you control the Jericho Squad and each character has a badass power. You can also revive fallen team members when they get killed. The graphics in this game are definitely good and the controls work well. Few minor issues but the game does soooo many things perfectly that those are easily forgettable. Once again, I recommend this game to those looking for a game with a lot of shooting action that isn't tactical. I hated Halo 3 but I love this game. Nothing against Halo but I just think everyone has different opinions and that's why we have different games for different tastes.

Don't Buy

This game is awful...nothing really new here. Gamepro is actually the only review that which gave this game a good score. It is terribly boring, and unoriginal. STAY CLEAR

Interesting

This has to be one of the more interesting takes on shooters since Bioshock. Its actually a little similer to bioshock in where you have a weapon and a special power. It doesnt come close to Bioshock in tems of number of differant powers though. In the game you control a squad of characters in which you can switch between. And in some spots you will need to switch between because a particular persons power is needed to do something like clear a passage or whatever to move on.

The environments are dark and gritty making giving it that icky earie feel. It works pretty well for the game.

The graphics are pretty good too. The 360 version is a bit darker and looks to be a bit more detailed with a higher range of lighting but it looks like they forgot to turn on the FSAA. The PS3 version looks a little less detailed and the lighing is not as dynamic as the 360 version but it looks smooth, less jaggies. this makes it difficult to say which one looks better, I like detail and the use of HDR but I hate jaggies. BOTH=4.25

Clive Barker's Jericho is an interesting game that's dripping with atmosphere and style. You lead a of covert-op squad of "occult warfare" pros through the ruined, evil city of Al-Khali as part of a storyline devised by horror icon Clive Barker. While Jericho has its faults, it's quite satisfying on a visceral level.
