Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord's Dark Tower. Only the player's actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord. A horde of imp-like creatures is at your control -- the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters and they'll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is.

Overlord - Xbox 360

overlord

If you like pikmin your very likley to enjoy this game. IN this game your an overlord and pretty much your trying to rule the world. it is a semi free roaming world by this i mean you can do anything you want and go anywere you want on the map (or adleast places you have the ability to get to) but you are usually fallowing pretty narrow paths kind of like fable if you have ever playd that... In this game you control these little minion dudes that look like goblins, they are basicly your way of killing things But also your way of gathering needed items and gold. the minions even find usfull items for themselfs that they will pick up and use automaticly (armor, weapons etc.) one thing i liked about this game is that you have an evil tower which is like your base and you upgrade it more and more throughout the game with items you collect in dungeons.. at one point you get a blacksmith were you can ubgrade your own weapons and armor by sacrificing your minions There are 4 different kinds of minions so there are tactics involvd as well there are the browns who are good in close combat the greens who can ubsorb poison and use stealthy attacks the reds who can ubsord fire and throw fire at enemies and the blues who can go through water, resist magic, and resurect your fallen minions wile progressing through the games you will find obsticles that require each different kind of minion to complete the game is very fun and has alot of random humor you might find yourself destroying towns and killing peasents on the side just for the fun of breaking stuff and watching people run away the controlls work well and are pretty easy to get the hang of but one problem i found in the game is there is not always a way to use tactics and get out of the situation unscathed for example say there is a fire enemy that blows fire and a poinson enemy that blows poison you need red minions for the fire and green minions for the poison but somtimes there are a bunch of both mixed up in the same small room greens will die by the fire and reds will die by the poison and you cant run in there swingin your weapon on your own because your guy is kind of weak health wise things like that get frusterating when they go out of hand and all you can see are all your minions running around on fire and laying on the ground dead from poison wile the enemy sits there drinking tea also the only minions that can fight close combat and live are greens and browns so you cant run around with an army of just reds and/or blues unless you feel like watching them fall over i guess you could say i like pikmin better because all your pikmin are equally kick ass in combat but each can survive a different element. either way i was happy with overlord and it got my money so i say give it a shot.

Overlord - Xbox 360

It's an okay game.

Well, i'm not gonna go crazy and write an ENTIRE review. But lets see. The graphics are excellent, very detailed and polished up. Voice acting is, to me, pretty funny. You have a jester minion that follows you around, only in your tower. He tries to flatter you by giving you titles based upon what you have done so far in the game. Example: You rescue a nearby town's suppy of food and you give it back to them with the choice of keeping it. If you give it back to them, the jester will call you "Merciful Quitener of the Grumbling Stomachs"... his voice adds a lot of humor too. Now for the most iffy part of the game. The gameplay is what drags this games score down so low. The camera is frustrating at times. You can only move your Overlord by using the left thumbstick. The camera tries to follow you as best you can, but you have no real control. The right thumbstick is reserved for sweeping your minions. The controls could be smoother, but it's complicated as it is because of what the game requires you to do. Now i could go on and on, but its just a Gamepro review, no one will read this, so.. right then, see you.
