Showdown Review by Segageek
Well after playing the first 2 Legends Of Wrestling Games by Acclaim entertainment i was pretty excited and hoped that the latest entry in the series would finally be the great wrestlingf game that puts Acclaim back on the map. However i was sadly mistaken Showdown's biggest attration is the 70 = Legends that are playbale including greats like Ultimate Warrior, Jake The Snake Roberts, and Curt Henning. Acclaim said in an interview that they were gonna revamp the gameplay engine. and they did but sadly the game feels less like a Legends of wrestling game and feels more like there older WWF, ECW Games. and by that i mean one of the best features in the game aka the timing counter meter, has been replaced and now you can counter by one click of a button (aka Attitude) asnd cause of this all counters are way to easy to do and seriously hurts the game overall. Especally when you spend 3 minutes countering eachothers behind grapples. Another thing that seems to remind me of Past generation wrestling is the Create A Wrestler. its very very limeted in picking out your clothes and hairstyles and you really cxant edit your face or anything a huge step back for acclaim since they were the ones that made Create A Wrestler Popular another key flaw is that this game is plagued with glitches. Especally with the character models, collision detection Move animations, Ai behavior Etc SO basicley this game gets lost in its own stream of glitches and technical issues. Another part of this game that was aggarvating was out of randomness the character select screen has slowdown. Slowdown could be understandable in a game with alot of characters but the main menu character screen, it seems like Acclaim sent us the wrong copy and we have the BETA copy of this game. Overall i say avoid this game and get Smackdown HCTP for your wrestling fix. Acclaim seems to have dissapointed us with another wrestling game .

Legend status is earned, not birthright
Never thought I'd be able to play as the Ultimate Warrior in a game again! But Acclaim brings him back. And many others. Legion of Doom, Ted DiBiase, The Brain, the late great Owen Hart, and many others. With an all star cast like this, where can you go wrong? The controls are a bit sluggish, thats where. Storyline type play is mediocre. If you miss the legends, grab this game. If you want a tight wrestling game, Raw 2 is better.

The legends get much better treatment this time around, but there are still some missing pieces.

Unfortunately, the latest build doesn't show the Million Dollar Man stuffing a hundred down the loser's throat.
