Why?

It really seems like this game was made difficult for the sake of being difficult. I played the demo and it's just way to frustrating.

Mega Man 8 is still my favorite of the original Mega Man series. I wish Capcom had put their time and effort into creating something the same visuals and gameplay as MM8. I especially loved the Anime segments. I feel like Mega Man 9 was just a quick way to make a buck.

Mega Man 9 review

After downloading this game from the Wiiware service, I was pretty excited! I haven't been this happy playing a new 8-bit game since I was 11. MegaMan 9 really did lived up to my expectations and brought back a whole new meaning to retro. I really love the graphics, they are really pretty and colorful for 8-bit. The audio is excelleny, with a variety of catchy mega tunes that have your shoulders shaking and feet stomping while you're playing. The controls respond well as you can use both the Wiimote and the classic controller. I found this game easier to play on the classic controller though. As for the gameplay it's intense! The only complain is that there is not really enough stuff going on there right now. Although I am really going to forgive that because this game is addicting and has you come back for more! There will also be DLC available and I am excited to see what will come next out of tis game! Overall, the difficulty is not hard but challenging. If you have played any of the past MegaMan games this game is no more challeging than those games. Although, Roll's item shop makes things in this game alot easier.

Ahh..the world of 8 bit. How I've missed you.

Holy hell is this a trip down memory lane. And what a wonderful trip it's been. Mega Man, he's one of the most popular video game characters of all time and for good reason. He has been in some damn good games not to mention some hard ones. Mega Man 9 is no exception to the (in)famous difficulty, but I love a challenge. Those of you familiar with Mega Man you know how difficult it can be I'm happy to see that Mega Man 9 brought those memories back of frustration. I know what some of you are thinking, why is bringing back the frustration a good thing? Well..just go back and play an old Mega Man (I'd suggest the 1st 3) game then come back and play 9 and you'll hopefully appreciate it too. This also features the first ever female Mega Man boss, Splash Women, she's probably the easiest boss but that doesn't stop her level from being like the rest of them, challenging, and very fun. You collect screws throughout the game which act as money so you can buy items that will help you out throughout the game. Some of them are completely pointless but are just funny to see in there, like you can pay to take Mega Man's helmet off, why you'd want to do that I'm not sure. But whatever makes you happy I guess. If you've already got a Wii connected to the internet get on that shop channel, find yourself a 1000 points and download this bad boy. I don't care if you've played every Mega Man game or if you haven't played any of them just go and play it. The classic feel to it, it's challenging so it'll keep you busy, the always amazing boss fights, and the good old 2 button controls (jump and shoot) :) What more could you ask for?

360 owners, just be patient, it is worth the wait.

Also, I'd rank this pretty high on the Mega Man list. Probably the top 3 with my favorite one still being Mega Man X for the SNES.

  • Sep. 23, 2008 Review: Mega Man 9 (Wii)

I'd forgotten how brutally tough old school games could be but Mega Man 9, the new yet decidedly retro game from Capcom, quickly set me straight. A wonderful throwback to the glory days of the NES, Mega Man 9 looks, sounds and plays like the classic Mega Man games of old. But that's definitely a mixed blessing because it's also freaking hard.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Yes, Capcom did a masterful job of recapturing the old school vibe-you'll swear you were back in 1987 when you play this game-but it's so freaking difficult that it's downright discouraging. Still, with its low price and faithfulness to the franchise's roots, it's definitely worth the download.
