Summary
Game Description
The House of the Dead: Overkill for the wii charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead. Overkill serves as a prequel to the first game in the series, and takes place in the year 1991 where Special Agent G--the protagonist of The House Of The Dead series--is given his first assignment fresh out of the AMS academy. Teamed up with hard-boiled Detective Washington, they are sent to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in a small town in Louisiana; however, little do they know about the blood-soaked mutant depravity that awaits them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

Worst Game in the Franchise
While a fun game, it's new take on comedy and a grindhouse-movie feel makes this game the worst in the "House of the Dead" franchise.
Story's kind of bleh, like they just took a bunch of stupid crap that they thought was funny and shoved it all in. 'Nough said.
Honestly, for a franchise that has hordes of zombies and monsters coming at you, this game is just too damn funny to even be considered scary. There's a lot of Zombie humor in it and it seems to mock the entire House of the Dead franchise and Grindhouse movies in general. While I enjoy shooting the zombies, I was disappointed in this new take on the franchise. I picked up this game expecting the dark-natured, hard-core rail-shooting franchise I've come to know and love since playing the first and third games countless times in various arcades, and even a Casino; instead, I get a Grindhouse comedy with two stupid protagonists, cheesy music, and a lot of zombie humor. This leaves me with the take that this game would disappoint a lot of fans of this franchise and should be considered the worst of it.
Graphics aren't exactly the best, but they're good enough. You're capable of shooting limbs off of the Zombies and they all have the same health count; about 3 or 4 shots will kill them. Blood splatter is kept to a minimum it seems, unless the zombies actually explode as they die, and a few of them actually do.
I'm not even tempted to play through the game again. If I ever get pissed off about something though, I might just give this another go simply because this game is funny and shooting a few hundred zombies is ALWAYS fun.
While this game in general is a disappointment to the "House of the Dead" franchise due to being a Grindhouse- comedy game, it still sticks to the gameplay tactic of shooting zombies, and as everyone who's tried and liked these kinds of games knows, shooting zombies is always fun and a great stress-relief.

Holy Crap I Love This Game!
How did this only get three stars?? I loved the game from start to finish in every way My only complaints were not enough content ( i beat the game on both modes in four days easy) and occasional pop ups. Other than that, it has solid controls, the best non-mario, zelda graphics on the wii, really epic boss fights, loads of action, good characters and humor (though the humor does get old after awhile), more f-bombs than Snakes on a Plane, and one of my favorite soundtracks of any game. Huge must buy for wii owners that like shooters. Rail shooters in particular. Replay value in this is surprisingly good, too. I was poppin' the disc back in after weeks of beating it. Overall, overkill is one of the best wii games out right now. Period. Oh, and I recommend playing it with the nyko perfect shot. - wuff

The House of the Dead: Overkill
House of the Dead enters the relentlessly vulgar world of low-budget Grindhouse cinema with Overkill, a crusty, hyper-grisly homage to 70's exploitation horror films like "I Spit on Your Grave" and "Cannibal Holocaust". It's basically a video game equivalent to Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez' "Grindhouse". The good news is that the game still plays like a regular House of the Dead game-the dev team just cranked up the abundance of gore, f-bombs, and cleavage shots.
