Summary

Game Description

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP, DS, and PC, and it's based on the Marvel Comics superhero. Venom returns to New York with a deadly symbiote that has taken control of the Manhattan area. As Spider-Man, you must work with both heroes and villains from the Marvel Comics universe to track down Venom and stop the invasion before it's too late. Like Treyarch's previous Spider-Man games, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 and Ultimate Spider-Man, the game will allow free-roaming action, and you'll be able to customize and choose Spider-Man's aerial and ground combat. For the first time in a Spider-Man game, you'll be able to choose the game's outcome and Spider-Man's path. There are multiple endings depending on how the game is played out. You'll also decide which villain to fight against, plus you'll be able to switch between Spidey's original red-and-blue suit, and the Symbiote suit at any time during gameplay.

Spider-man Web of Shadows

Okay first off I have to say that this was the best spider-man game I have ever played. The concept was pretty simple choose to be the good or the bad guy or you could choose to have the dark suit while still being the good guy or use the red suit and be the bad guy, simple enough? Good, now what was one of the best things of this game was the story and how it could change according to what you choose to do. The other thing was that the combat system was awesome and then the feature to upgrade was pretty good but you would have to play forever to get all the ability's. But you get hooked on it and after beating it once you'll play again and again until you've beaten all of the story endings. So until they somehow make another spider-man game that is good as this we'll just have to wait. SO PEACE OUT SPIDEY!!!

Best Spider Man game

Although the latest Spider-Man games sucked; that shouldn't mean you should overlook this one. This game fixes the problems the previous games had such as repetitive combat(new moves you can actually use against all your enemies), camera is adjustable, and the city doesn't look like crap. The visuals aren't that bad the attack effects on electricity needs some work and so do the trees but other than those two the game looks good for a wii title. The story stays true to the comic book nature so fans of the comic won't feel rejected by the story. The controls are more responsive than previous multiplatform releases. Bosses get more difficult during the midpoint of the game. Combat is not repetitive thanks to a varied and easy to memorize moveset. But not all of the moves are acessible at the beginning you have to defeat enemies and do side missions to get all the moves for both suits. The game's story lasts for about 20 hours if you choose all good choices which I chose. I am going to replay the game on the dark side to see the alt ending.

  • Oct. 20, 2008 Review: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (PS3)

Dart past a couple panels when flipping through a comic book and you're not likely miss much. Even if there's a page torn out, you can still get through it without much trouble. You might miss out on a minor plot point or get left out of some nuances, but that doesn't make the experience any less enjoyable. A great comic combines stunning artwork with cool characters and an intriguing plot--it's a sum greater than the parts. That's the spin on Spidey's newest adventure. Web of Shadows is fantastic fun even though a few pages have been disappointingly left out.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Awesome action makes up for several shortcomings including a spastic camera and random technical glitches. Web of Shadows delivers the best combat system of any Spider-Man game to date and intense boss battles to go with it. An imperfect effort, but an entertaining one nonetheless.
