Summary
Game Description
Soulcalibur Legends by Namco Bandai Games for the Wii is a third-person action game that features characters from the Soul Calibur universe. You use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to master orchestrated attacks to crush scores of enemies or large bosses. Battle through more than 10 diverse stages and environments in the single player Quest Mode; rising through the ranking system to earn the honored titles of Knight or Soldier. Players can deliver a one-two punch by switching between their character and an ally for more versatility in any given situation. Gamers can also put their skills to the test in a split-screen Co-op Mode, compete against a friend to defeat the most fearsome enemies in Competitive Mode, or spar in Versus Mode.

If Your Soul Still Burns, Please Set This Game on Fire!
Soul Calibur Legends is the definition of promise unfulfilled. Although Namco folks assured the public that they had a "dream team" working on the game, the end result is just short of a nightmare. The game's most glaring fault is its repetition: enemies, empty hallways lined with pots, moves that lack creativity, re-used textures, everything about this game screams cash-in. The Soul Calibur cast, an interesting and well-designed group of heroes, is misused in this adventure, even though there are noticeable differences in their fighting e.g. Taki is nimble but Mitsurugi is an accurate, ground-based slash-machine. The story is woefully underpresented, although interesting; the primary problem that permeates the game bogs down the story as well: Static images and text drain any semblance of excitement for the narrative as surely as the endless (and mindless) waggling of the Wii remote saps variety and tension from the combat. It's a shame that this game was not given a longer development cycle, as the foundation for a good action game is there. I was ready to purchase this game, day one, but rented it instead and ended up wishing I could get my five dollars back.

ok then
this game was kind of odd. i would call myself a big soul calibur fan ever since soul calibur 2. i was pissed when nintendo did not get on board with soul calibur 3 and i was even more pissed when i found out that they did away with necrid. THAT WAS MY BEST GUY! but i digress. soul calibur legends was just too different from its predecessors. the weirdest thing i saw was they now have a third person adventure and nothing else no more one on one melee. in fact for multiplayer they just see how fast you can beat a level. the player list was cut significantly only including sigfried(nightmare) mitsirugi, taki, sophitia, astaroth, and surprisingly that one guy from tales of symphonia i forget his name. however it was still surpisingly fun. with an ok story it even had voice actor romi paku which as very few know is the voice of edward elric on the anime full metal alchemist. so i give this game a 3.75 out of 5
